(1901-1987) Хейфец, ЯшаЗнаменитый скрипач. Учился в Санкт-Петербургской консерватории, в 1914-17 совершил ряд зарубежных гастролей. В октябре 1917 состоялся его дебют в Карнеги-холле [ Carnegie Hall]. С 1929 гражданин США. Продолжал многочисленные гастрольные поездки по многим странам мира. Во время второй мировой войны давал концерты для американских войск в Северной Африке и на Средиземноморье. Концертный комплекс в г. Нью-Йорке с большим залом, тремя малыми залами и помещениями для репетиций. Открылся в 1891 концертом, в котором в качестве дирижера принял участие П. И. Чайковский. На протяжении почти столетия считался Меккой музыкантов. Концерт в Карнеги-холле уже сам по себе означает признание певца или музыканта. Здесь первыми концертами открывали свои американские турне всемирно известные музыканты: Я. Хейфец [ Heifetz, Jascha] (1917), сэр Томас Бичем [Beecham, Sir Thomas] (1928), В. Горовец [ Horowitz, Vladimir] (1928) и другие. До 1962 принадлежал Нью-Йоркской филармонии. После перехода Филармонии в Линкольн-центр [ Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts] создалась угроза его сноса, и зал был выкуплен городом Нью-Йорком.
